Bastinado

I've been becoming increasingly interested in bastinado because it's a pretty huge mindfuck for most people. While most of us will experience pain in most parts of our bodies with great enough frequency to recall what it feels like, the soles of our feet are generally pretty well protected. There might be some pain from jumping from a platform too high or walking on hot cement, but there are a number of sensations very unlikely to occur naturally. As such, most people are not mentally prepared to endure pain there and it's frustrating to suddenly find you can't apply your usual tolerance to a form of pain.
