Suspension

Recently I had a itch to build a new bedframe. Having seen some awesome playrooms like LondonRopeTop's and MplsGuy's, I decided to go with using iron pipes and Kee Klamps. They sell fittings that are hinged so they can be added on to existing framework, meaning the bed could easily be expanded into an entire playroom.

At any rate, having suspension capabilities for the first time in years has had me really hankerin to be haignin midair. It's great because in adding an extra dimension to the mix, the possibilities are endless. It takes a lot of skill to do suspension with just rope, but there are some really nice suspension harnesses out there for instance. I personally love that you can have someone tied so they can wriggle around like a fish on a hook, or tied more rigidly while suspended in midair. The former is really great for something like electro or IcyHot where no matter what the boy does it won't make a damned bit of difference, but the latter is great for inescapable cbt, wax play, spanking, etc. Either way, the subject isn't going anywhere.

Protecting Your Boy

Let's face it: there are a lot of assholes out there. Between people who can't handle their booze, inexperienced players, and those who think the world revolves around them there are definitely enough to go around. If you're going to do any form of public bondage or domination, you have to be prepared to deal with them which can mean taking on an intimidating demeanor.

When you've got a boy incapacitated or subservient in public, you should view every person in that room as submissive to you to some degree. That boy is your responsibility, and anything bad that happens because someone doesn't listen to you is still on your hands; a boy shouldn't have to come out of headspace because you can't keep a creeper from groping him. It's really easy to want to be overly polite in social settings, but in this circumstance either a line is being crossed or it isn't. A firm (but not outright rude) response to inappropriateness ensures the conviction surrounding your warning is well-received.

Be aware of management, bouncers, bartenders, or similar. If you're in an setting that allows for an - even casual - public scene, odds are that the staff is at least remotely aware of proper etiquette surrounding the situation. Even in the event that they're not aware of the specifics, "No means no," is a pretty universal code. If someone remains unresponsive to your most adamant of reprimands, don't hesitate to inform official staff that you're having problems with a given person.

It's also useful to have trusted friends around. Not only is there strength in numbers (on top of helping subdue a boy) when it comes to people hell-bent on interfering, but they can help in notifying staff of problems. If you've got a boy tied to a St Andrew's Cross and someone keeps trying to spank him after being warned several times, you can't exactly leave him there and walk off to inform the bouncer.

Just remember: alcohol or not, it's really not that hard to be considerate. If it's a very sexually charged setting, at least be patient enough to allow a given person one freebie. When you engage in public play it's always a risk that someone might misread body language, expectations, interest, etc. and overstep, but persisting after initial reluctance is not okay regardless of the circumstance.

Easy Access

Fucking's been on the brain the last few days, and it's been making my D/s pendulum start to swing back in the sub direction. I actually built a set of stocks a long time ago that had place not only for wrists and ankles, but also a hole for balls. Humbling Positions

Naturally, not everyone is equipped with a versatile playroom. I personally think everyone who's serious about becoming a Dom should at least have a bondage-capable bed, there's always situations like hotel rooms that are much less suitable. While a nice, simple hog tie can work just about anywhere I much prefer something that impedes movement a bit more. After all, even hogtied a determined boy can work his way across a room with relative ease by rolling around. When you limit that capability without even restraining him to a fixed point, it's nothing short of humbling and lets a boy know staying where you leave him isn't optional.

Military Gear

Though I've mentioned before I much prefer the idea of intrinsic humiliation to iconic humiliation, military gear is a huge exception for me. It's one of the few icons that actually resonates deep in my psyche. As far as icons go, I think it's definitely one of the more prevalent ones. Every military may have different uniforms or even different procedures, but what they do all have in common is that they are all meant to be warriors.
